FAQ

“I couldn't have been happier and more relieved when the job was totally organized and complete.   When the going gets tough, Corinne gets going, with a few hugs thrown in, if you need them!” (TT)

What is a professional organizer?

A professional organizer is someone who provides information, products and assistance to help individuals and businesses achieve their specific organizing goals.

How do we start?

We start with an initial complimentary telephone consultation to begin to understand what you need and get to know each other.  I follow-up with a complimentary on-site visit to obtain a better understanding of what you need.

Together, we will develop an understanding of your organizing goals and a tailored plan outlining the who, what, where, when and how of realizing your goals including schedule and budget.  Once the plan is agreed to, we then book your first organizing session to begin implementing your organizing plan!

Do I need to prepare for the first session?

No, as part of understanding your needs is to see the space and organizing systems as you live in it daily.

What happens during the organization process?

Building upon our initial consultation, the first session continues to analyze which of your current organization systems work well and which do not. We continue to strategize on your optimal solution by understanding your organizing style, reviewing room functionality including efficiency, accessibility, safety, and any other components critical to successful organizing.

We will sort your items so you can then decide what to keep, sell, donate, recycle or discard. I will guide and support you with what may be tough decisions. For the items you choose to keep, we will determine the optimum storage location and the solution may involve utilizing your existing resources  (e.g. shelving, containers, etc.) and we can also discuss other services or products that would be beneficial. We will regularly review how the work is progressing and aligned with your tailored plan to ensure we are achieving your organizing goals.

Lastly, I can provide guidance on actions you can take in the future to maintain your new improved organizing systems!

How long is each session?

Organizing sessions are a minimum of three hours.  Sessions can be longer depending on you and the type of organizing project. Organizing can be stressful for some clients so we can pace accordingly.  If you have a deadline, longer days may be best.

How long will it take?

Organizing is dependent on many factors – for example, the scope of the project, the size of the space, level of accumulation, and how quickly you can make decisions. It is always important that we go at a pace that is good for you and you receive value for your investment of time and money.

How much does your professional services cost?

I offer a complimentary initial phone and on-site consultation. Organizing services are $65 per hour (plus HST), with a minimum three-hour session. More importantly, I take the time to understand your needs and budget so we can ensure value for your organizing dollars.

Will I need to buy lots of product?

Many clients already have lots of bins, baskets and containers. I make every effort to re-purpose existing product and when it makes good sense, we purchase product based on a cost/benefit analysis.

What geographic areas do you service?

I am in central Toronto and focus on servicing the Toronto area. Depending on the organizing request, I will travel outside Toronto.

What is your availability?

Everyone has their unique schedules and I do my best to accommodate your schedule requests.  I can be available weekends and evenings if required.

What methods of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, cheque or e-transfer. Payment for service is collected at the end of each session.

What is your cancellation policy?

I request 48 hours notice. Cancellation of a scheduled session with less than 48 hours of notice will be billed at 50% of the agreed upon rate.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I carry both General Liability and Professional Liability insurance.
